Dissatisfied with a lawyer?

All lawyers are under the supervision of the Law Society. If you are dissatisfied with a lawyer, you can write to the Law Society and make a disciplinary report.

· Law

All attorneys must follow good practice. If you believe that your lawyer has violated good practice, you can file a report with the Disciplinary Committee of the Law Society. The application must be in writing and must be signed by you personally.

Once the notified lawyer has commented on your remarks, you will have the opportunity to comment on the opinion. After the exchange of letters in the case has ended, the Disciplinary Society's Disciplinary Board examines whether the lawyer has acted in violation of good legal practice.

If the Disciplinary Board finds that the lawyer has acted in violation of good practice, the lawyer will be given a disciplinary penalty. The penalties are reminder, warning (which can be combined with penalty) and exclusion. The Disciplinary Board also has the opportunity to make a statement only.

Making a registration costs nothing. Normally, the Disciplinary Board only examines notifications where the notifier is a client, counterparty or in some other way affected by the matter.
